The ruins of Château de Wangenbourg were classified as a French historic monument by decree of 6 December 1898. Chapelle d’Obersteigen was also classified as a historic monument in 1844.

Nature and Trails

The Circuit Panorama Sud offers impressive views of Wangenbourg and its hamlets and passes through shady woodland and clearings.

The Circuit des Rochers is a challenging 17.7-kilometre hike lasting approximately six hours. It starts at the Mossig et Vignoble tourist office and has a total ascent of 569 metres. The route follows forest paths along the Mossig River to the hamlet of Windsbourg and passes distinctive rock formations and geological features of the region.

Château du Freudeneck is located near Wangenbourg on a ridge of the Schlossberg at an altitude of 390 metres, overlooking the Mossig River. The ruins of Château du Freudeneck can be reached from Château de Wangenbourg via a signposted forest path. A road takes visitors in vehicles close to the site; the ruin can then be reached via a footpath in five minutes. Access is free and unrestricted all year round.

Cycling

Lang Parc de Wangenbourg offers an area dedicated entirely to cycling, with a pump track, descents, jumps and modules for all levels from the age of two.

Wangenbourg-Engenthal is served by a regular bus or tram line.
