Ohlungen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture
In the hamlet of La Klose in Ohlungen stands the Chapelle Notre-Dame-des-Douleurs, later called Chapelle Saint-Maurice and known as “la Klose”. The former Chapel of the Virgin in La Klose is listed as a historic monument; the protection order of 25 April 1935 covers an inscription plaque and a stone crucifix. As a pilgrimage chapel, it was dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows and was rebuilt in 1817 by Nicolas Schneider. The monumental cross at Klose was commissioned by the residents of the municipality of Ohlungen in 1770 and set into the chapel’s north wall. Near the Klose chapel stands the stone cross “S’Pandurekrytel”, dating from 1744. It commemorates an officer who was killed in a battle of the War of the Austrian Succession fought near Ohlungen.
