The Grande-Île is the historic centre of Strasbourg and is structured around the cathedral; the original UNESCO World Heritage Site was inscribed in 1988. Since the late 18th century, the Musée Zoologique has provided an overview of global biodiversity and preserves more than 1.2 million specimens. A new tour there presents 1,800 specimens, including historical pieces and species that had not previously been exhibited.
