There is also a burial mound near Vile Church that was examined by Skive Museum in 1983. Three urns containing cremated bones from the Late Bronze Age, dating from around 1000 BC, were found there. Along the Route to Følvig Beach

The Følvig Beach – Sesterodde route begins at Vile Church and leads via Følvigvej to Følvig Beach. Red arrows mark the way. At the same time, there is a specific condition to take into account when planning: the coastal section of the route can be difficult to pass when the water level in the fjord is high.

There are no car parks in the immediate vicinity of the route. Anyone planning to take the route should therefore consider their journey and the starting point of their outing in advance. At Følvig, there are tables and benches where you can take a break and eat a meal you have brought with you. This provides a good opportunity for a longer pause without implying that any other facilities are available on site.

Cliffs, Black Claystone and Fossils

At Sesterodde, the cliffs consist of a very black type of claystone called Brandenler or Glimmerler. Fossils dating back 60 million years can also be found on the cliffs at Følvig. For children, it can be exciting not only to look at the landscape but also to search for such geological traces; at the same time, the discovery remains tied to the respective cliffs at Følvig.
