Glyngøre on the Limfjord

Glyngøre is situated on a headland surrounded by woodland and beach, almost in the middle of the Limfjord. The town combines a shallow beach, varied paths, maritime summer experiences and a cultural centre offering insights into the history of the surrounding area. Glyngøre Beach has held Blue Flag status since 1992. The beach is shallow and child-friendly; from the shore to a water depth of two metres, the distance is approximately 130 to 200 metres. This approximate figure is a useful guide when planning a day by the water. The beach can be accessed from the harbour or via Durupvej, and there are parking spaces at both entrances.

Between the beach and the harbour, you can use a sauna with sea views in the building known as “Saltkassen”. This makes it possible to add a special break to your time by the shore. This provides two different tour ideas: the section from Glyngøre to Durup and the 29-kilometre route from Skive to Glyngøre.

The routes appeal to travellers who enjoy spending their days actively and switching between walking and cycling tours. The landscape around Glyngøre is characterised by numerous hiking and cycling routes. Summer experiences on the Limfjord

In summer, the fjord around Glyngøre is used for sailing, kayaking and surfing. From the harbour, numerous larger and smaller harbours on the Limfjord can be reached on a day trip. Every year, the Glyngøre Water Park is installed from the beginning of June until the end of August on the northern side of the harbour, approximately 50 metres offshore. The seasonal water park includes, among other things, a slide, an inflatable jumping cushion, a trampoline, a climbing wall and balancing equipment. These attractions add variety to the warm months and can become a defining part of the day for families with different interests.

Cultural centre and the history of the surrounding area

Glyngøre Cultural Centre presents exhibitions on the history of the surrounding area. It opened in 1990 in a former railway station building and features a permanent exhibition on the Salling railway, photographic equipment and fishing. A visit complements the activities at the beach and on the nature trail with a cultural perspective on the development of the town and its surroundings.

This allows you to plan your trip according to your preferred rhythm: a day by the water can be combined with an exhibition, while on another day the 29-kilometre nature trail or the section to Durup can take centre stage.
