Holiday apartment in Racková: Landscape and Traditional Culture

Racková lies in a valley below a forest of the same name and at the transition between the Hostýnské vrchy and the Vizovické vrchy. The village offers views of the surrounding landscape. Culture

A festival revived in Racková is Hanácké právo. It takes place approximately every ten years and is therefore one of the village’s special traditions that do not recur annually. The traditional Vodění medvěda is also connected with the local culture and is among the cultural events held in Racková. The approximate ten-year interval makes Hanácké právo a rare date in the events calendar; alongside it, Vodění medvěda is one of the village’s traditional cultural events.

An essential part of Starý hanácký právo is a procession through the municipality with stops at individual houses. Humorous transgressions by their residents are recited there. The accusations are humorous and avoid personal attacks or insults. Starý hanácký právo was included in the regional list of intangible elements of traditional folk culture by a resolution of the Council of the Zlín Region dated 11 April 2022.

The Racková Volunteer Fire Brigade Association also organizes an annual fire sports competition.

History

An early written trace of the village can be found in the place name itself: Racková first appears in an official record in 1397. In the nearby area, between Racková and Žeranovice in the Hrádek cadastral area, lies Hrádek. It is a well-preserved and clearly recognizable remnant in the terrain of a fortified medieval manorial seat.

Getting Around

Bus route 153 connects Zlín, Racková, Žeranovice and Holešov; the timetable is valid from 14 June 2026 to 12 December 2026. For journeys during this period of validity, four places are therefore named as part of a single route connection.

On the Tour de Žídelná cycling tour, Racková has two functions: the village was the destination of the relevant edition and is a checkpoint village; refreshments and entertainment are available at the stations.
