Jestřabí can be explored through the surviving traces in the village, its traditional customs and the surrounding landscape. Religious landmarks, traditional architectural forms and connections with nature stand alongside one another, while the wider regional area offers additional historical attractions.

Culture

On the village square in Jestřabí stands a stone cross dating from 1906. The chapel is also located on the village square, on the site of an old bell tower. It is a rural sacred building made of white bricks, modeled on the Neo-Romanesque style and dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Svatý Hostýn. The village's built character also includes four original agricultural buildings from the 19th century, including barns. The original houses shape the village's appearance with the folk architecture typical of southern Wallachia.

Local customs are also passed down. During the carnival season, Jestřabí preserves the masked procession known there as „fašanky“ as an old local tradition. The Easter custom of „tragačování“, a clapper tradition involving the so-called „tragači“, is passed down from generation to generation. Every year, a pilgrimage Mass is held at the chapel on 15 August for the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The pilgrimage takes place on the nearest Sunday before or after this date.

Nature

The forests in the cadastral area of Jestřabí are characterized by mixed stands of oaks and hornbeams. The mountains of Rubaný Háj, Holý vrch, Kobylinec and Nad Oboru are located around Jestřabí.

An online map application for Valašské Klobucko lists dozens of specific tourist attractions as well as hiking and cycling trips. It shows routes through nature and to historical sites, monuments and traditions. A connection from Popov is also described for cyclists: at a junction, they can cycle to Jestřabí and then continue along the cycle path towards Rokytnice.

History

The wider regional area around Jestřabí includes the Starý Světlov ruins, Zámek Lešná Castle, and the churches of Malenisko and U Kapliček. The four attractions represent different types of historic architecture and broaden the regional context with a ruin, a castle and two churches.
