Němčice – Haná Landscape, History and Holiday Apartment

Němčice lies on a gentle southwestern slope of the foothills of the Carpathians and at the same time in the Haná landscape. This combination of a hillside location and a regionally distinctive cultural landscape gives the village a clear geographical setting. Its history goes back a long way: the first written mention of Němčice dates from 1261.

History

Several traces of the past have been preserved in the village. These include a memorial chapel and a bell tower from the 19th century. Another special historical monument is the stone reconciliation cross on the northern side of Němčice. It stands on the left side of the road from the village square to Stará Ves, near an orchard.

Culture

The cultural life can also be explored through local associations and customs. The local reading association “Svatopluk”, later renamed “Odbor národní jednoty”, historically staged amateur plays in Němčice. This preserves a specific form of community cultural activity. In 2025, the local volunteer fire brigade provided a contemporary seasonal highlight: one of its main activities of the season was decorating Němčice for Hody.

In summer, the multi-purpose sports facility in Němčice is used for tennis and ball games. In winter, the facility’s concrete surface becomes a natural ice rink. In addition, the multi-purpose sports facility also serves cultural purposes.

The 46-kilometre circular cycling route “Rovinou okolo Kroměříže” is also significant for cycling: it passes through Němčice as the fourth stage point.
