Vílanec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Vílanecké peat bog is a nature reserve in the cadastral area of Vílanec. It comprises a diverse mosaic landscape of aquatic, wetland and meadow habitats in a valley floor, as well as at peat-forming springs emerging on the slopes. Rare species such as slender cottongrass (Eriophorum gracile) and Hamatocaulis vernicosus can be found there.

Nature and Landscape

Vílanec lies on the western side of the Jihlávka Valley. Sokolíčko and Popický vrch, both mountains, are located in the nearby area. The mountains Rozhledna and Kalvárie are also situated around Vílanec. Smetanovy sady is a park in the vicinity. In the wider regional area, there are two ruins: Janštejn and Orlík.

Culture and History

On a hill above Vílanec stands the Church of St James the Greater, in a cemetery enclosed by a stone wall. It dates from approximately 1240 to 1260. Inside, it has three altars: a main altar with a painting of Saint James, as well as side altars depicting the Descent from the Cross of Jesus Christ, John the Baptist in the wilderness, and the Madonna with the Christ Child.

The Vílanec Rectory is a detached, single-storey Baroque building from the second half of the 17th century. It was built on the site of an older Renaissance building. Roštejn Castle [Doupě] is also located in the vicinity of Vílanec.

Routes through the Municipality

Road I/38 runs through Vílanec on the route from Jihlava to Znojmo. For cyclists, cycle route 5215 runs from Popice via Vílanec to Luka nad Jihlavou.

Marked hiking trails also cross the municipality: a yellow-marked hiking trail runs via Sokolíčko near Stonařov and Suchá to Špičák. A green-marked hiking trail leads from Čeřínek via Kostelec, Pouště and Hodice.
