Velký Rybník comprises the three named ponds Návesní, Otavník, and Horkáč. Horkáč is a natural swimming pond in Velký Rybník; in winter, ice skating is also possible there.

Nature

The Rousínovský Forest is crisscrossed by paths for walking and cycling. Vlčí studánka is one of the sights near the tourist route in the Rousínovský Forest.

The Jankovský Stream is protected as a national natural monument and forms part of the European protected area of the same name.

Culture and History

Velký Rybník is home to the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, a small sacred building from the 18th century with a square floor plan. The monument to the fallen of the First World War stands in the center of Velký Rybník and commemorates those who fell between 1914 and 1918.

The Pálení Čarodějnic festival takes place in Velký Rybník every year, subject to municipal announcement. On April 30, 2024, it was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. at the usual venue. A Maypole celebration documented in Velký Rybník included decorating and guarding the maypole, which was later felled. The traditional Easter custom of Pomlázka is also documented in Velký Rybník.
