Velké Janovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Velké Janovice extends along both banks of the Janovický potok. The stream rises in the forests above Velké Janovice.

Nature and Landscape

West of Velké Janovice, rare and highly endangered plant species that have largely disappeared from the surrounding landscape have been preserved in the Údolí Janovického potoka area. The plants in this area provide a livelihood for several rarer insect species. On 14 October 2005, the area was registered as a significant landscape feature.

The continued management of the Údolí Janovického potoka area through gentle grazing or mowing the grassland at suitable times is expected.

Mount Na jedli lies in the vicinity of Velké Janovice. The mountains of Kočíko and Librův Kopec are located nearby. Mount Babylon lies in the wider regional surroundings of Velké Janovice.

Cultural and Religious Sites

The Chapel of Panny Marie Bolestné has stood in Velké Janovice since 1892. It was last renovated in 2009 and continues to serve religious purposes. A large cross dating from 1863 has been preserved in the immediate vicinity. A traditional pilgrimage takes place in Velké Janovice in August.

The Poustevna hermitage was blessed on 23 July 2005 by Vojtěch Cikrle, the thirteenth Bishop of Brno, and belongs to the Dalečín parish.

The original mill building and the mill mechanism have also been preserved. The mill was shut down in 1939. The buildings of Panský dvůr are still standing today.

Routes

The “Za sportem” route is 58 kilometres long, passes through Velké Janovice, and runs along paved roads, surfaced paths, and field tracks. The Jimramovská circuit of the Zubří stezky 8 reaches Velké Janovice at kilometre 17.
