Hořepník combines striking cultural monuments with the river landscape of the Trnava and protected natural areas. Between the chateau, historic cemetery, old buildings and distinctive landscape areas, the town reveals many different facets.

Culture and history

Březina Chateau comprises a chateau building with a Baroque chapel, an enclosed courtyard and an adjoining chateau park. The chateau is a valuable example of a rural manor house with a history dating back to the 16th century.

Prof. Bechyně Square in Hořepník is characterised by the Church of the Most Holy Trinity and the adjoining vicarage. The bridge in Hořepník is also part of the town's historic appearance and is considered one of the oldest bridges of its kind in Central Europe.

Around 228 gravestones have been preserved in the Hořepník Jewish Cemetery; the oldest dates from 1649. The cemetery is considered valuable because of its numerous Baroque and Neoclassical gravestones. The grounds also include a simple mortuary.

Tvrziště Konipasy preserves traces in the terrain of a former castle or fortress. A castle cellar has survived beneath the granaries built on the castle masonry.

Nature and landscape

The Trnava stream flows through Hořepník. The Trnava Natura 2000 site lies along the Trnava River; protected Eurasian otters (Lutra lutra) are found there.

Čertova skála in Mašovice is designated as a significant viewpoint within the municipality of Hořepník. Pod Medvědím in Mašovice comprises spring-fed meadows and wooded field margins where specially protected plant species occur.

The Želivský Kláštor Monastery, the Church of Svatý Jan, Orlov Mountain, Putimovský vrch Mountain and the Church of Svatá Anna are located in the surroundings of Hořepník. The wider regional area also includes Špičák Mountain, Vrchy Mountain and the ruins of Orlík.
