History

A functioning masonry bell tower stands in the center of Pavlov. The history of the settlement dates back to the 13th century, when Pavlov was founded as a fortification to protect the town of Pelhřimov. The first written record dates from 1377.

The Štemflík Mill is also one of the settlement’s historic landmarks. It was built toward the end of the 18th century and belonged to the Pavlov estate. The mill has been restored, and its turbine is still in operation.

Trails

The Jewish cemetery in Pavlov, in the direction of Nemojov, is a protected monument and preserves 27 gravestones dating from 1804 to 1894. The 15 km circular trail “Okolo tvrziště” passes by it. The circular trail also leads to the Nemojovské tvrziště, where preserved ditches and ramparts of a former Gothic fortress are 8 m wide and up to 14 m deep; the site is also called Blažkův zámek.

The 34.5 km cycling route “Okolo lomu k evropskému rozvodí” also passes through Pavlov. This route is suitable for mountain bikes on the terrain. Another 32 km route, “Okolo studánek”, also runs through Pavlov.

Surroundings

The mountain Putimovský vrch is located in the immediate vicinity of Pavlov. The surrounding area also includes the mountains Orlov, Troják and Bělský Kopec, as well as the Church of Svatá Anna.
