Olšany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Jechovec is located in the cadastral area of Olšany u Telče, approximately 1 km southeast of Olšany, in alder forests along springs and streams in the Markvartická pahorkatina uplands. The area covers 3.08 ha and was designated in 1982.

Culture and Nature

The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Olšany bears the heritage protection identification number ÚSKP 17622/7-5047. Olšany is also home to the protected group of trees “Wych Elm, Lime Tree and Elm by the Chapel in Olšany”. The protected large-leaved lime tree stands by the chapel. It is estimated to be 260 years old and 26 m tall; this estimate dates from 31 August 2009.

Jechovec consists of natural streamside and spring-fed alder woodland communities of the Alnion incanae alliance; black alder (Alnus glutinosa) dominates the stand. In the spring aspect, spring snowflake (Leucojum vernum) is dominant there. The waterlogged depressions of the alder forests in Jechovec are suitable for the reproduction of species such as the common toad (Bufo bufo), common frog (Rana temporaria) and Alpine newt (Triturus alpestris). Characteristic bird species in Jechovec include the Eurasian wren (Troglodytes troglodytes), mistle thrush (Turdus viscivorus), European robin (Erithacus rubecula), Eurasian blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla) and great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major).

Getting Around

Tourism in the Olšany area is primarily focused on cycling tourism. There is public bus transport in Olšany; the village has no railway. Road I/23 from Dráchov to Brno runs through the Olšany area.
