The remains of Štěměchy Fortress lie on the eastern edge of Štěměchy. They include two partially preserved moats; the circular castle site has a diameter of approximately 45 metres.

Culture

The Štěměchy bell tower, also known as the bell chapel, is listed as one of the cultural monuments of the village. The Dašovský Mill has four floors and preserves thousands of original exhibits.

Nature

Štěměchy is surrounded by deep forests consisting predominantly of conifers. These forests are mainly visited by people who appreciate peace, nature and walks. On the summit of Mařenka there is an original beech forest area of approximately 2 hectares, around 190 years old.

Experiences

The grounds of Štěměchy Fortress now serve as a summer excursion destination and as a venue for large community celebrations. Via Mariana offers informative and playful stations for children and adults. The educational trail is three kilometres long and passes thirteen stations focusing on traditional crafts, legends, hunting, the local volunteer fire brigade and a famous native of the village. There is a toolbox for cyclists on the back of Via Mariana’s entrance sign.
