Vysoká Pec combines a distinctive mining history with wooded nature and a variety of excursion destinations. The Jezerka Nature Reserve extends across the cadastral areas of Vysoká Pec and is exclusively forested in character.

Nature and views

In the vicinity of Vysoká Pec, the area around Jezeří Hill in the Jezerka Nature Reserve offers views of Jedlová hora, the Vesnický potok valley and the Jezeří Reservoir. Also nearby is the Tereza viewpoint, located on a forest path towards the summit of Jedlová (853 m). From there, there are views of the Central Bohemian Uplands, Jezeří Castle and a nearby lignite mine.

Winter sports

The Pyšná ski area has three downhill slopes and three ski lifts. The facilities also include a ski school and a children's ski park. Night skiing, as well as a snow park with obstacles and a cross-country course, round out the winter sports options.

History and townscape

In Vysoká Pec, the headframe of the former lignite mine has been preserved as a protected cultural monument. The Baroque Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Vysoká Pec was built in 1904. The name Vysoká Pec is probably connected with a blast furnace and workers' accommodation located at the site of today's settlement at the end of the 18th century.

Vysoká Pec has the Koupaliště Vysoká Pec outdoor swimming pool. It has parking spaces, bicycle stands, sanitary facilities, terraces, a children's playground, workout equipment, a floodlit beach volleyball court, a floodlit multipurpose court and a table tennis table.

The Hostinec u Wojty in Vysoká Pec has an outdoor area, bicycle stands and parking facilities. The Chomutov–Jirkov–Vysoká Pec–Lesná cycle route passes through Vysoká Pec and continues to Drmaly.
