Nová Chribská: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Nová Chřibská is a place with numerous buildings featuring North Bohemian folk architecture and a highly varied topography. These include log houses with the characteristic element known as a podstávka; at the same time, the character of the built environment has been largely preserved.

Culture and history

The history of the village includes a large steam sawmill founded in 1890, whose owner was Rudolf Zimmer. In addition, a memorial commemorating 21 citizens of Nová Chřibská who fell on the battlefields of the First World War was restored in 2014.

The park belonging to the memorial was reconstructed in 2015. The stone walls were renewed, hand-hewn stone posts were made and installed, garden furniture was acquired, and the park landscaping was completed.

The memorial is located approximately 200 m below the railway crossing. When travelling from Chřibská to Rybniště, it is on the left opposite the bus stop.

Landscape and nature

The Nová Chřibská landscape character area forms the transition between the Krásnolipsko-Podluží and Kytlicko-Chřibsko landscape character areas. The built-up area transitions into areas with tree vegetation as well as meadows and pastures; there are also watercourses and small bodies of water with accompanying vegetation.

Nová Chřibská lies in the Lužické hory Protected Landscape Area, where Zone III predominates. Velký rybník features a water surface with adjacent reed beds, moist, marshy and wet meadows, wet alder stands, willow thickets, and an important bird migration route.

Getting around

Road II/263 forms the transport axis of Nová Chřibská. The regional cycle route CT 211 (Šluknovská) includes Section 12 near Nová Chřibská.

Within the context of the host municipality of Rybniště, important regional cycle routes run through the area and connect to cycle routes in the Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland region.
