Nová Víska is located in the Ore Mountains (Krušné hory) at an altitude of around 650 metres above sea level. The settlement lies between hills, in the upper or middle section of a slope with a gradient of more than 8 %. Permanent grassland and almost no development characterise Nová Víska. There are currently 15 buildings in the settlement; its upper and lower parts form a single unit.

Nature

The cadastral area of Nová Víska u Domašína belongs to the Podmilesy site, a European Site of Community Importance (CZ0420160). The European Site of Community Importance Podmilesy protects near-natural dry grasslands and shrub formations on calcareous soils with significant orchid populations. In the Podmilesy site, the valley contains an almost continuous ash-alder floodplain forest. The valley of the Podmileský stream and its tributaries lies between Domašín and Louchov.

History

Nová Víska was first mentioned in 1526 in connection with the settlement presumably founded by Cistercians from Grünhain as Nova vila. The settlement belonged to the Přísečnice estate; its historical German name was Neudorfel. As a result of depopulation, Nová Víska officially ceased to exist on 1 January 1979. Only a few houses remain of the extensive settlement of Nová Víska u Domašína. The Puschhof estate fell into ruin in 1728; a sheepfold was later located on its site.

Culture

The wayside cross stood on an old road above the former village of Nová Víska (Neudörfl), in the direction of the small settlement of Krčma (Kretscham). It is tentatively dated to the second half of the 18th century; a carved axe is depicted on the wayside cross. The wayside shrine from Nová ves dates from 1901. The “Vyhlídka u kříže a Kepsteinu” viewpoint is located near the wayside cross and Kepstein. From Nová Víska, there is a view of the Tušimice power station.
