Hrušovany U Chomutova: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hrušovany is located on the edge of the Hutná Valley. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1209.

History

An old road connecting Chomutov with Žatec ran through Hrušovany. On 20 August 1813, Russian Tsar Alexander I spent the night in the Hrušovany parish house while marching with his army towards Leipzig. A memorial on the village square in Hrušovany commemorates those who fell in the First World War from 1914 to 1918.

Culture

Due to the loopholes in the strong walls of its tower, the church in Hrušovany was one of the fortified churches in the Chomutov region.

Another historic site is the complex in Vysočany. From 1728, the master builder Octavio Broggio worked for ten years on the design and construction of the Baroque Church of Saint Wenceslas. The Baroque complex consisting of the Church of Saint Wenceslas, the parish house and farm buildings is the only surviving remnant of the vanished village of Vysočany. The complex in Vysočany is freely accessible.

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was created by František Antonín Kuen in 1713. A Baroque statue of Saint Roch was created in 1714 by an unknown artist. A Baroque Calvary sculpture was probably created in the 18th century, later fell into disrepair and was restored in 2010.

Cycling

A 1,200-metre-long cycle path connects Hrušovany and Lažany. The cycle path between the two villages was completed between 2018 and 2019.
