Droužkovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Church of St. Nicholas in Droužkovice underwent major renovations in the second half of the 15th century and at the beginning of the 16th century. A defensive upper storey was added above the chancel, along with a polygonal tower with loopholes that served as a bell tower. This turned it into the fortified centre of the village; part of the surviving surrounding wall is more than 120 centimetres wide.

Culture and History

The area around Droužkovice has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. Archaeological finds in the landscape provide evidence of trade links with the ancient Mediterranean region. The southern slope of Farářka Hill was also the site of an exceptional find from the Early Iron Age.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary has a rectangular floor plan with a three-sided chancel termination. It once housed a wooden Baroque Pietà dating from the mid-18th century.

Places of Interest

Local places of interest in Droužkovice include replicas of menhirs and revitalised ponds. They complement the historic buildings with further distinctive features of the village.

Events

The Masopust carnival in Droužkovice includes a procession through the village, refreshments for visitors, a satirical performance, live music and a raffle. The folk and country music festival Fesťáček u vody has been held since 2000 at the local Droužkovice bathing area.

A traditional witch-burning event with competitions, music and sausage roasting over a campfire was announced for 30 April 2025 at the Droužkovice bathing area. At the Droužkovické Vodní hrátky, the 18th edition, teams compete against one another in various water sports disciplines.

Cycling and Water Sports

The public CykloDen followed the cycle path connecting Spořice, Droužkovice and Březno, and included checkpoints with a stamp pass in each municipality. The cycle route running through Droužkovice connects the route from Kadaň to Žatec with other cycle paths leading as far as Litoměřice.
