Habrina: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The late-classical Protestant church in Habřina was built between 1850 and 1853 by the Protestant congregation with financial support from the Gustav-Adolf Association. The church and the former Protestant parish belonged to one of the oldest Protestant congregations in what was formerly the German-speaking area of Bohemia. A hiking route to the summit of Sedlo also leads from Habřina.

History and Culture

The former Protestant parish in Habřina was built in 1851. Until 1926, in addition to the pastor and his family, it also housed a one-class school and a teacher’s residence. The former Protestant school existed as a German Protestant school until 1924. The Protestant grounds in Habřina included a one-class school in the parish and a separate cemetery, which was established in 1861.

Next to the parish, a Protestant orphanage with extensive outbuildings was built in 1911. This part of the Protestant grounds gradually fell into disrepair after 1945 and was eventually demolished. The former Protestant parish is now privately owned, has been carefully restored, and is offered as holiday accommodation.

A plot of land in the cadastral area of Habřina u Úštěku is located in the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. In the vicinity of Habřina, the summit of Sedlo has been protected as a national nature reserve since 1968 because of the presence of rare plants. Sedlo also has a lookout point with views to the south, west, and east.

In the vicinity of Habřina, Lake Chmelař offers two prepared beaches for relaxation and active leisure activities.

Getting Around Locally

The church and the former Protestant school stand at the northern end of Habřina, near a bus stop. Habřina is located on road II/260 between Malé Březno and Úštěk. A bus route between Ústí nad Labem, Úštěk, and Konojedy operates near the church.

From the nearest railway station, Úštěk, a field path leads to Habřina along Chmelař Pond; the route is stated to be just under 3 km.
