The Chapel of St. Cyril and St. Methodius is the architectural landmark of Zhoř. The feast of St. Cyril and St. Methodius at the chapel dedicated to them is associated with a pilgrimage Mass in Zhoř.

Culture and Traditions

The Easter custom of the koledníci, known as “mrskut”, is a living tradition in Zhoř. On the eve of St. Nicholas Day, the children of Zhoř are visited by Mikuláš, an angel and devils; this custom is one of the longest-maintained traditions of the municipality. The communal “Pálení čarodějnic” on 30 April is also one of Zhoř’s living traditions.

On the road to Rašov stands the small Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, built in 1900. In 1892, a stone cross was erected next to the chapel in Zhoř.

Nature and Landscape

A larger part of Zhoř’s planning area lies within the Lysicko Nature Park. The planning area also contains the protected Zhořská mokřina natural monument, covering an area of 3.37 ha.

Outside the built-up area, Zhoř has a harmonious landscape: human influences are in balance with the natural elements there, and the landscape has relatively high value.

Paths and Activities

The Zhoř area has an established network of publicly accessible purpose-specific paths. These paths are mostly continuations of local roads, provide access to agricultural and forestry areas, and improve the permeability of the landscape.

Zhoř and its cadastral area are frequent destinations for cycling tourism. In summer, the fire reservoir in Zhoř is used for swimming at one’s own risk.
