Ústup: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ústup combines sacred art, historic village structures and signposted trails. Between religious monuments, old farmsteads and the landscapes of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, it creates a diverse village setting.

Culture and Faith

A small brick religious monument with stone reliefs is the Boží muka shrine in Ústup. The monument dates from 1805. Its reliefs depict the Great Calvary scene, the Nativity, the Last Judgment, the Baptism of Christ and the Holy Trinity. A chapel in Ústup was consecrated to the Holy Spirit in 2006; the sculpture of the Holy Spirit on its side wall was created by the artist Karel Ševčík. A parish pilgrimage service is held in Ústup during the Feast of Pentecost.

History and Village Setting

The history of Ústup was shaped by its location on the so-called Imperial Road between Moravia and Bohemia. During military operations, this road was also important for transporting troops. Older farmsteads stand along the village green, and some houses display features of folk architecture, including log buildings.

Trails through the Landscape

Cycling Route 5085 runs from Kunštát via Sulíkov, Ústup and Veselka to Trpín. Cycling Route 5088 leads from Olešnice via Ústup and connects there with Cycling Route 5085. A red-marked hiking trail leads from Olešnice via Ústup to Křetín.

Landscape and Views

Ústup lies in the northwest of the South Moravian Region beneath the peaks of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The 654-metre-high Špilberk is located nearby; it can be reached via a turnoff from the red-marked hiking trail.

The lookout tower on Zelenkův kopec is located about one kilometre north of Ústup. The tower is seven metres high; it was built and opened at the end of 2006. From there, views extend over the Žďárské vrchy and the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands and, in good visibility, as far as the Jeseníky Mountains and the Orlické Mountains.
