Tvarozná Lhota: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Tvarožná Lhota provides a direct gateway to the landscape of the Bílé Karpaty: the Trail of Life includes mountain biking routes and natural single trails through the landscape of the Bílé Karpaty. Its starting point is at the Lučina recreational area, where there is a large pump track and a small skill centre.

Nature and trails

The artificial Lučina water reservoir lies in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. Its surroundings are suitable for hiking and cycling; blue-, yellow- and green-marked hiking trails, as well as cycle route No. 46, run around Lučina.

The 15 km-long Orchidejová educational trail can also begin at the Lučina recreational area. It leads through the Vojšické meadows complex and the surrounding area in the Bílé Karpaty. Rare orchids and other protected plants grow along the educational trail.

The Muzeum oskeruší includes the Oskorušová educational trail. It leads through the foothills of the Bílé Karpaty from Tvarožná Lhota to Radějov and up Žerotín Mountain, and is marked with a red diagonal stripe. Along the educational trail, visitors can see protected, mighty service trees, including Adamcova oskoruše, whose age is estimated at around 500 years.

Culture and local history

The Muzeum oskeruší focuses on agriculture, folk architecture, as well as food and gastronomy. The atrium below the Rozhledna Travičná also houses a permanent exhibition about the nature and culture of the Bílé Karpaty and about service trees.

The Rozhledna Travičná stands in the cadastral area of the municipality of Tvarožná Lhota, in the location known as Vrchy. On the map, it can be found under Travičná, the summit of a 380 m-high hill. The viewing platform is reached by climbing 177 steps; the viewpoint is 34 m above the ground.

The Rolnický dům in Tvarožná Lhota, house number 187, is a listed adobe house dating from the late 18th century. It preserves its original layout with a hallway, living room and chamber, as well as traditional materials such as unfired bricks, hand-hewn wood and forged nails.

The Salaš Travičná grounds contain a small museum of the timber Kopaničář buildings of a salaš. The grounds also include an arboretum with 23 native woody plants of the Bílé Karpaty. The facilities are complemented by a children's playground with play elements made from natural materials, including walk-through “mouse tunnels”.

Traditions and the annual cycle

The annual Oskorušobraní takes place on the third weekend in September in the Salaš Travičná grounds. At Oskorušobraní, varieties of service tree fruit are presented and sampled.

Local cultural events in Tvarožná Lhota include the costumed Fašank in February. The Slavnost oskeruší also takes place in Tvarožná Lhota in February.

The Muzeum selského života a tvarohu was open during the season from June to September, Friday to Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
