Tavíkovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Rokytná River flows through Tavíkovice, forming numerous bends in a deep valley lined with coniferous and deciduous forests on its slopes. The 35-kilometre Rokytná Nature Park lies on the border of the Třebíč and Znojmo districts. Its landscape includes meandering waterways, rocks, shallow floodplain meadows, scree areas, and alternating coniferous and deciduous forests. Tavíkovice is mentioned as a smaller centre within the park. The village also has a natural swimming pool and is considered a smaller centre of the Rokytná Nature Park.

Nature and Trails

A yellow-marked hiking trail begins on the outskirts of Tavíkovice and follows a stream downstream into the valley. The protected Valův mlýn, an immovable cultural monument of the Czech Republic, lies along a hiking route from Tavíkovice through the Rokytná Valley. The Nezvalova stezka was opened in 1962 in a woodland setting.

After 1989, the Ranč u řeky recreation centre, formerly IB Oslavany, continued operating in the Rokytná Valley. The 81.6-kilometre Mlynářská stezka cycle route passes through Tavíkovice. It is a themed cycling trail focusing on the history of milling.

Culture and History

Tavíkovice Château is a protected Czech cultural monument; it has been under monument protection since 3 May 1958. It is a valuable, originally single-storey Renaissance building with Baroque and Neoclassical alterations. The château complex is surrounded by a landscaped park dating from the mid-19th century. A medieval fortress once stood on the site of the present château.

The settlement of Tavíkovice dates back to the 11th century. The first written mention of Tavíkovice dates from 1349. The Chapel of Our Lady, Mother of Christian Unity, in Tavíkovice was completed and consecrated on 19 May 2002.

Traditions

The traditional pilgrimage in Tavíkovice includes a Mass in the Church of the Virgin Mary, a folk-costume tradition beneath the maypole, and fairground rides for children.
