Svatá Kateřina lies in a deep valley of the Šebrovka stream. Above the village rises the Kostel sv. Kateřiny church on a prominent rocky spur. It was built in the style of late Rustic Gothic, is traditionally dated to 1469, and is considered the oldest surviving building in the Blansko District.

Culture and village life

Masopust is an annual tradition in Svatá Kateřina. Around 40 masks usually take part in the annual Masopust celebrations. Traditional doughnuts, cakes, open sandwiches and other refreshments are offered along the procession route.

Landscape

Babí Lom is a mountain in the vicinity of Svatá Kateřina. The mountains of Jedla, Zlobica and Paní hora are also located in the surrounding area.

Hiking trails

A blue-marked hiking trail leads from Kuřim railway station via Babí lom and Šebrov to Svatá Kateřina. From there, the blue-marked hiking trail continues via Olešná and Blansko to the Macocha tourist hut. A green-marked hiking trail leads from Svatá Kateřina via the Potoky signpost to Vranov or Bílovice nad Svitavou.

Culture and regional destinations

The Brno Zoo, a zoological institution, is located in the wider regional surroundings of Svatá Kateřina. Zámek Veveří, a castle, as well as the ruins of Kuchlov and Hrádek are also located in this wider regional area.
