Němčany: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Němčany stretches along the Němčanský potok at the foot of the Drahanská vrchovina. The Jezdecký klub – stáje Němčany offers individuals and groups recreational horseback rides with historical commentary on the battlefield near Slavkov.

Landscape and nature

Northwest of Němčany, near Lutršték, lies Mrazový klín. It is an unusually large example of soil weathering, exposed in the wall of a sand quarry. Návdavky u Němčan is a nature monument protecting thermophilous Pontic-Pannonian plant communities and free-living animals, particularly amphibians. The area lies approximately 500 metres south of Němčany and is marked by three panels bearing the state coat of arms.

Volkramy consists predominantly of broad-leaved dry grasslands, which locally transition into sub-Pannonian steppe grasslands, and is home to several notable plant species. It also contains a vital and abundant population of the large-flowered pasque flower (Pulsatilla grandis).

History and culture

The pilgrimage site of Lutršték lies on Vinohrady Hill northwest of Němčany. It includes the Chapel of Panny Marie Sedmibolestné, built near a spring between 1867 and 1877. The Němčany Museum preserves material, written and photographic evidence of the municipality’s historical development.

The Chapel of sv. Antonína Paduánského in Němčany is a valuable historical example of Baroque church architecture from the late 17th century. It was restored in 1731 and extended with a side sacristy in 1872.
