History and Culture

One of Brankovice’s notable buildings is the Church of Saint Nicholas; it is registered as an immovable cultural monument. The new church was built in 1714 after the former Catholic church and rectory burned down completely in 1690.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary and the nearby Svatá studánka form a single unit. The spring dates from the same period as the chapel. It was attributed with miraculous properties; it existed before the chapel was built.

The Brankovický kroj incorporates elements from Haná, Slovácko and Brněnsko. Work on this traditional costume began at the start of 2001 with the involvement of the municipality; expert consultations were held with the Slovácké Museum and the Institute of Ethnography at Masaryk University in Brno. The obecní hody in Brankovice have taken place every third Saturday in August since 2001.

Nature

The Strabišov–Oulehla protected area covers the cadastral territory of Brankovice and is part of the Natura 2000 network. It includes semi-natural dry grasslands and shrub communities on calcareous substrates. The protected area also includes oak-hornbeam forests of the Galio-Carpinetum association and Eurosiberian steppe oak forests.

The swimming pool at ZŠ a MŠ Brankovice has been back in operation since Friday, 15 November 2024. It is open to the public on Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m., except on public holidays and during school holidays; the last admission is at 7 p.m.
