Lelekovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Babí lom Nature Reserve also includes the cadastral area of Lelekovice. It protects a geologically and geomorphologically unique rock formation with near-natural to natural forest communities and is also significant from an ornithological perspective. The freely accessible Babí lom lookout tower has been used by visitors since 15 May 1961.

Nature and Trails

The Babí lom area has climbing walls of lower difficulty, hiking trails, and forest paths for recreational running.

The Stezka zdraví trail leads from Mokrá Hora through forest paths via the Ponávka Valley to Lelekovice. It is 9.3 kilometres long, runs mostly through the forest or along its edge, and has only gentle inclines. The route is suitable for all age groups and has its own appeal in every season.

The Pěšina educational trail runs from the terminus of bus route 41 in Poňava to the junction near Jehnice. Along the Pěšina, information boards provide details about the plant and animal species found in the area. Approximately halfway along the route, there is a small seating area.

The “In the Footsteps of Defunct Railways” cycle path runs mostly along the former routes of discontinued or relocated railway lines and passes through Lelekovice. The Petra Bezruč Beer Trail runs mainly through forests on paved and gravel paths and largely away from road traffic.

Culture and History

The Church of St Philip and St James is the oldest surviving building in Lelekovice; its origins date back approximately to the middle of the 13th century. It has a Romanesque-Gothic core and is included in the list of state-protected immovable monuments.

The Pilgrimage Route project includes an educational nature trail in Lelekovice with views of the village and the Church of St Philip and St James. The Sedmiradostná Pilgrimage Route runs between this church in Lelekovice and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Vranov. Seven chapels line the route; they symbolise the joys of the Virgin Mary.

The history of the village includes the medieval Lelekovice Castle. It is a systematically researched castle ruin that has since been abandoned. It is first mentioned in writing from the middle of the 14th century, and by the beginning of the 15th century it already appears to have been deserted.

Low walls stand on the castle grounds, illustrating the location and layout of the castle. There is also an information board at the edge of the site; models of the castle stand in the village square and in the municipal office.
