Kunštát Castle is one of the oldest aristocratic castles in Moravia. The Kunštát castle complex is surrounded by a park.

Culture

The Church of St Stanislav was originally Gothic and was rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1687. The Church of the Holy Spirit in the cemetery was rebuilt in 1738 and contains a family crypt belonging to the owners of the Kunštát estate.

The Kunštát Municipal Information Centre houses a permanent exhibition on the history and present of pottery in the Kunštátsko region. Another permanent exhibition is the František Halas and Klement Bochořák Memorial Hall, dedicated to František Halas and Klement Bochořák. The Kunštát dog cemetery is also considered a rare European feature.

At Kunštát Castle, the guided tour “Representative Rooms of the South Wing” presents the residential culture of the last aristocratic owners. The “Castle” tour traces the oldest architectural development and ownership history of the castle; its stops are located in the castle courtyard, at the gate tower, in the castle palace and in the Knights’ Hall. The exhibition “In the Coat of Arms of Three Stripes” traces four centuries of family history against the backdrop of the history of Moravia.

Nature and Trails

The varied landscape around Kunštát is criss-crossed by hiking and cycling trails. The cycling tour through the Halasovo Kunštátsko Nature Park is suitable for all age and ability groups and offers various options, directions and lengths.

The “Castle Stops” route leads on a walk through Panská zahrada, the castle game preserve and Habrůvka Castle Park. A clear system of information boards runs along the route. The cycling network in Halasovo Kunštátsko includes rest areas and information boards.

Events

The Halasův Kunštát poetry evenings take place every October in honour of František Halas. The Potters’ Fair features demonstrations at the potter’s wheel and a creative workshop for children.
