Žeravice: Holiday apartments and houses

The “Památník Jana Amose Komenského” Memorial stands on the site where the assembly of the Bohemian Brethren was formerly held. At a synod held in Žeravice in 1616, the 24-year-old Jan Amos Komenský was ordained a priest. The memorial includes an exhibition of folk art and traditional crafts.

Culture and history

The Church of Stětí sv. Jana Křtitele is protected as a listed monument complex. This includes the surrounding wall, two gates and the grounds of the enclosed area. The church was built between 1722 and 1728.

The listed cemetery in Žeravice contains a sandstone cross serving as the central cross and a cultural monument on the axis of the access path to the Chapel of sv. Barbory. The cemetery chapel was built in 1689, and its shingle roof continues to be maintained.

Visits to the memorial can be arranged in advance through the Žeravice municipal office. A visit to the Church of Stětí sv. Jana Křtitele can be arranged by telephone.

Wine and tradition

Vinařství Žůrek offers wine tastings year-round in its cellar on the outskirts of Žeravice. Tastings usually begin with 10 to 12 samples of its own wines.

The Hodová neděle in Žeravice will take place on 30 August 2026 and will include a procession through the municipality and a performance in the afternoon.

Cycling routes and landscape

The Bzenecká vinařská stezka is suitable for gravel, trekking, road and electric bicycles. From the observation towers on the climbs around Žeravice, visitors can look out over orchards and vineyards.

The Sloup Bičovaného Krista (plague column) was restored and re-erected at its original location beside the road and a mature tree.
