Dyjákovice can be discovered through several specific features: the Thaya and the irrigation canal to Hevlín, a signposted cycle route, and historical evidence in the village and its immediate surroundings.

At the southwestern edge of Dyjákovice, a signposted cycle route runs along the Krhovice–Hevlín Canal under the route designations 48, EV13, Greenway P-W, Moravská vinná and Po rovince. The signposted “Po rovince” cycle route has an easy, flat profile and runs for 80 percent of its length on local roads without motor traffic.

At the nearby MJ-S 15 “Závora” infantry fortification, visitors can see a modernised filtration and ventilation system, fully equipped cupolas and an original pump.

Culture and History

The Church of St Michael the Archangel in Dyjákovice is a late Baroque church dating from 1757 to 1761. The centre of Dyjákovice, including St Michael’s Church, is registered as an area with documented or reasonably suspected archaeological finds. A stone wayside shrine from the 16th century in Dyjákovice is one of the late Gothic pre-Reformation small outdoor monuments.

At the eastern edge of the village stands the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes. It has a single-nave body, a polygonal chancel and a tower above the western entrance. The chapel is a valuable small sacred building in the Neo-Gothic style, dating from 1886. It was built in 1885 on the site of an older Marian chapel called “Frauenbild” and extensively restored in 1984.

The Chapel of Our Lady, Mother of the Church, is a small sacred building from 1886 at the western edge of Dyjákovice. In the former cemetery by the northern wall of the parish church stands a Calvary group with a monumental Neoclassical cemetery cross at its centre.

In Dyjákovice, a pilgrimage in honour of the holy archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael is recorded on the Sunday around 29 September. The programme of the Michalské krojované hody 2025 included a procession through the village in traditional costumes and a gathering with cimbalom music.

Water and Surroundings

The Thaya flows through Dyjákovice; it also feeds the irrigation canal to Hevlín. More than 30 military fortification structures are located in the surroundings of Dyjákovice.
