Branišovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Several clearly dated testimonies to the history of the village converge in Branišovice. The Church of Saint Lawrence is considered the oldest monument in Branišovice and has an early Gothic core dating from the early 13th century. Branišovice Castle is protected as a cultural monument and dates from around the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Culture and History

A section of the former Imperial Road runs through Branišovice and is considered a municipal monument. The Imperial Road running through Branišovice was built between 1805 and 1811. The folk costume of Branišovice is also part of the village’s history: it belonged to the West Moravian type, specifically to the southeast of the Krumlov region, which was shaped by the intermingling of Czech and German community influences.

Villagescape and Customs

At the northern edge of Branišovice, on the road towards Šumice, stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. Its current form dates from 1911. In the southern part of Branišovice, in Vinohrádky, stands the bell tower of the Holy Trinity, popularly known as Kaplička. It was built in 1824 in connection with the establishment of Vinohrádky. For decades, boys have gathered in front of the bell tower during the Easter customs, playing rattles.

Routes and Events

Route I of the Znojemská Wine Trail passes through Branišovice. The main branch, Route I, runs from Hrušovansko to Znojmo, mainly through flat and hilly terrain as well as along Class II and III roads and field paths. Annual events include the Svatovavřinecké hody, the largest event organised by the Branišovická chasa.
