Tchořovice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Tchořovice Fortress is a protected cultural monument. At its archaeological site, a two-storey, four-winged granary has been preserved, surrounded by ditches and bodies of water. Access is from the east via a stone bridge with two arches; remnants of Renaissance sgraffito have been preserved on the exterior façade.

Villagescape

The village square is dominated by the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas, built in 1878. The square is also home to the chapel and houses No. 10 and 12 in the style of rural Baroque. Thus, sacred architecture and rural building forms stand side by side in the village landscape.

Nature

The Hořejší rybník Nature Reserve lies on the western edge of Tchořovice. It has a high biodiversity of animal communities. The protected area includes the historic Hořejší pond at the confluence of the Hradišťský potok and Smolivecký potok (Lomnice).

Tours

The “Kolem rybníků” tour is a 12.2-kilometre circular route from Vrbno to Tchořovice and back to Vrbno. It passes through the airfield grounds before reaching Tchořovice, where it continues to the dam of Hořejší rybník pond. On this tour, the dam of Hořejší rybník offers a view of the 14th-century Gothic fortress.

A blue-marked hiking trail begins at the railway station and runs along the edge of Tchořovice to Podtchořovický mlýn. For cyclists, the Blatná–Tchořovice cycling tour begins at the Blatná Information Centre and initially follows Cycle Route 31.

Transport

I/20, a first-class road, runs through Tchořovice and connects České Budějovice with Plzeň.
