Sirnin: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Srnín lies at the foot of Mount Kleť in the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area, at an elevation of 540 metres above sea level.

Nature

The Granátník educational trail is an 8.5-kilometre circular route that starts and ends in Srnín. Nine information panels cover the local flora and fauna, geology and the history of the military fortifications. The Granátník educational trail includes wetlands with orchids. On the eastern slope of Granátník Hill stands a 5-metre-high wooden observation tower offering views of the picturesque Vltava Valley. The observation platform of the tower on Granátník is freely accessible year-round.

Experiences

The Srnčí Trail branches off from the Granátník educational trail towards Mount Kamýk and rejoins it later. Visitors on the Srnčí Trail can use a mobile application, scan QR codes on pictures of animals and listen to the sounds made by the animals. The Srnčí Trail offers interactive elements for children, including a memory game and animal pictures with QR codes.

History

Srnín was established as part of the colonisation activities of Zlatá Koruna Monastery. The first written mention of Srnín dates from 1400. In 1440, Srnín was mentioned as part of the Rájov-Rychta within the Zlatá Koruna estate. In 1929, a memorial to the soldiers who fell in the First World War was unveiled on the village green in Srnín.

Culture

The construction of the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is attributed to Martin Novotný. The first written mention of the chapel dates from 1837; it was renovated a few years ago. The first written mention of the Na Vršku Chapel also dates from 1837. A description from that year lists it as a brick chapel owned by the municipality, featuring a depiction of Panna Marie Kájovská. The painted Panna Marie Kájovská is no longer preserved in the Na Vršku Chapel today.

Routes

The historic route from Srnín to Rájov was also used by various wagons travelling towards České Budějovice. The Vltava Route 7, EV7 and Greenway RD pass through Srnín and continue to Zlatá Koruna.
