Culture

The Early Gothic Church of Saint Lawrence dates from the second half of the 13th century. It is part of the “Open Church Doors in the Písek Region” project. A bronze statue of Švejk stands beside the river in Putim.

Nature

About two kilometres downstream from Putim’s iron bridge, the Blanice flows into the Otava. A cascade of many smaller ponds feeds the Podkostelní Pond. Every year, fish are harvested at Podkostelní Pond near Putim.

On the way

The “Association of Friends of Putim” regularly organises cycling trips to explore the surrounding area. On the Švejk Route, you can take a train from Putim railway station near Podkostelní Pond for the return journey to Písek.
