Nišovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nišovice lies on both banks of the Volyňka River in the hilly landscape of the Volyňská vrchovina. The river, millrace, village green and surrounding elevations shape the various facets of the village.

Nature and Landscape

Na opukách is a landscape-significant area with scattered greenery and fragments of non-forested communities. Access to Na opukách is unrestricted; by car, the site can be reached to within 250 m.

In the immediate vicinity of Nišovice are the hill “(V Mládí) [Nišovice]” and the hill “Na Opukách [Volyně-Zechovice]”. The wider regional area is home to Včelenský vrch mountain, Chlum mountain and the “Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast” ruin.

Culture and History

On the banks of the Volyňka River and along the millrace, the Seberův vodní mlýn mill complex comprises a residential building, a mill building, a granary and farm buildings. The original milling equipment and the remains of a waterwheel shaft have been preserved at Seberův vodní mlýn. The water mill has been preserved in the form it had in 1852; later alterations mainly involved raising the mill building.

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius, renovated from 2011 to 2014, stands on the village green in Nišovice. In the direction of Volyně, there is also the Boží muka wayside shrine.

The meadow Tuláků louka is also part of the village’s history: in 1875, Joáchym Miniberger from Volyně established a branch leather factory there in Nišovice and purchased the Tuláků mill at the same time. The factory remained in the family’s ownership until 1922.

Cycling Routes

Cycle route 1247 passes through Nišovice along the Nišovice–Volyně–Předslavice route. A circular tour starts at Nišovice railway station and follows the Volyňka along the red-marked hiking trail and cycle route 121.
