Jilem: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Jilem lies in the northeastern part of the Jindřichův Hradec Hills. The village combines a small but clearly identifiable local history with local traditions, as well as cycling and hiking events.

Culture and History

A historic barn is located at House No. 13 in Jilem. The visible historical record of the village also includes the Jilem memorial to those who fell in the First World War, which dates from 1921. The history of agriculture is also linked to Jilem: an agricultural distillery was founded here in 1880. After it was dissolved in 1883, an agricultural cooperative distillery was established there in 1902. There are also wayside shrines in the vicinity of Jilem.

Activities and Events

The tennis court in Jilem is also open to the general public and operates from spring through autumn. A local tradition is Jilemský masopust, featuring colorful masks and music. The cycling trip Jilemské galusky is also associated with the village. Jilemská Galuska took place for the 30th time on May 23, 2026.

The Trojmezí monument stands at the boundary of the municipalities of Jilem, Horní Němčice, and Horní Meziříčko. New Year's hikes to Trojmezí took place in Jilem in 2023, 2024, and 2026.

Landscape and Surroundings

Kalcův vrch, Babí hora, and Za Vrškem, all mountains, are located in the immediate vicinity of Jilem. Zadní Radlický vrch, also a mountain, is also located near Jilem.

Destinations in the surrounding area include Roštejn [Doupě], a castle, Janštejn, a ruin, and the Church of Svatý Ondřej. Further afield in the region is Landštejn, a castle.

Orientation

Road I/23 runs through Jilem and divides the village into two parts. The nearest railway stop is Stojčín, 10 km from Jilem.
