Ceska Olesna: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Today, Tumaperk, a small early Renaissance château, stands in the middle of a planted beech forest. It was built in 1513–1514 by the brothers Hynek and Jindřich z Vydří; in 1892, it was struck by lightning, the building burned out completely and subsequently fell into ruin.

History and culture

The first mention of Česká Olešná in historical sources dates back to 1349. Another historical site is Česká Olešná Castle: after it was purchased by Josef Laboriette in 1810, it acquired its present Empire-style appearance. The castle has been protected as a cultural monument since 1963. It is privately owned and not open to the public.

The historic cadastral surveying pillar of Česká Olešná dates from the 18th century. During the Theresian and Josephine military surveys of the country, it served as the starting point for surveying the landscape and creating cadastral maps. Known locally as “mamlas”, the pillar stands on the northwestern edge of Česká Olešná on the road to Bednáreček and is freely accessible.

A collection of Soviet aircraft is an attraction in Česká Olešná.

Nature and landscape

Tůmův vrch (Tumaperk) is a destination for excursions near Česká Olešná. The ruins of Tůmův vrch (Tumaperk) are freely accessible, lie just under one kilometre northeast of Česká Olešná and are located outside marked hiking trails.

The historic architecture of Česká Olešná is visually accentuated by its reflection in Zámecký rybník.

Česká Olešná is a station on the Via Czechia route “Českomoravská stezka”. From Česká Olešná, the route continues to Strmilov via cycle path No. 1240 and an unmarked field path.
