Forbes: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Forbes, a former Augustinian monastery takes visitors back to 1455: Petr z Lindy founded it that year. The exhibition “Poklady z diecéze” is dedicated to ecclesiastical art as well as the Gothic and Baroque periods of the monastery.

Culture and history

At the monastery complex, the information centre helps visitors plan excursions and organises admission tickets. During the guided interactive tour “Prohlídky šesti smysly”, visitors can try on ecclesiastical clothing.

The exhibition “Vlakem z Borovan tam a zpátky” allows visitors to enter full-size historic passenger and freight wagons. The Museum of Czechoslovak Fortifications in Borovany displays historic equipment from the site, weapons and accessories, as well as characteristic equipment and uniforms of the Czechoslovak armed forces from the late 1930s.

Experiences

“Peklománie” is an interactive route through newly reconstructed hell-like rooms for families with children and groups of children. “Peklománie” also includes a hell-like slide where young visitors can let off steam.

Nature

The “Zahrada květů” is a small, vibrant nature island in the middle of the town and provides butterflies, bumblebees, bees and other pollinators with a suitable environment. Lazna natural swimming pool keeps its water biologically clean in filter lagoons without chemical treatment; aquatic plants and natural ecosystems play a role in this process.

Discoveries

In the “Borůvková zahrada s letní čítárnou” garden, visitors can try Canadian blueberries when they are ripe. Cyclists can ride along the marked “Borůvková” Okolo Borovan cycle route.

The “Za mlsnou ovečkou” programme is available in Borovany. It includes a 30-minute tour of a mini-dairy, including a tasting of its products.
