Úněšov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The defining landmark of Úněšov is the single-nave Church of Saint Procopius. It has a rectangular nave, a narrower, five-sided apse with buttresses, and a tower on the north side. The originally Gothic church acquired its present Baroque form in 1738–1739. Its grounds are an archaeological area with confirmed or well-founded suspected finds dating from the Middle Ages to the modern era.

Culture and Townscape

Úněšov’s ecclesiastical character also includes a late Baroque chapel located behind the village on the road to Číhaná. A sandstone statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary on a pedestal stands in the village square. The Baroque sculpture dates from the 18th century and was probably created by a local master.

Another notable work is the life-size Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1704. It stands on a low, prismatic pedestal decorated with stylized sunflower blossoms; the artist is unknown. Also noteworthy are the fragmentarily preserved Boží muka, a high-quality example of rural stonework from the early 17th century.

The Baroque rectory forms an urban ensemble with the church and the former school. This historic townscape is complemented by the Pichl farmyard, a complex consisting of several buildings and open to the east, with a U-shaped layout. Úněšov also contains an extensive castle-ruin area with well-preserved remains of a terrain fortification, but without clear traces of buildings.

Landscape and Cycle Paths

Úněšov’s natural landscape character lies on the edge of Manětínská Nature Park. A completed cycling connection is the Číhaná–Úněšov–Podmokly cycle path: it safely connects Číhaná with Úněšov and provides safe access to the football pitch. Construction began in 2023 and was completed in 2024.

In the wider historic surroundings, the approximately 48-kilometre-long Šipín cycle route also runs through the area around Konstantinovy Lázně and Gutštejn Castle.
