Northwest of Červené Poříčí Chateau lies the extensive ruin of the Gothic Roupov Castle. Its most distinctive surviving feature is a slender octagonal chimney from the castle kitchen, dating from the 16th century.

Culture and History

The core of the old Roupov Castle lies on a rocky ridge above the village. With the exception of the inhabited section, the ruins are freely accessible. Opposite the access road to Roupov Castle stands the Chapel of Saint Anne, built in 1696 on the site of an older castle chapel. Pilgrimages held at this chapel every July used to attract many visitors.

In front of Roupov Castle, on sloping terrain, stands a massive three-storey granary. Wooden granaries have been preserved in the former farmsteads at house numbers 21, 25, 31 and 44 in Roupov. There is also a small masonry chapel near the granary, with a niche containing an almost life-size Baroque stone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.
