Planá U Mariánských Lázní: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Planá combines evidence of silver mining with medieval and Baroque architectural history, art and varied landscapes in the surrounding area. The Štola Ondřej Šlik was established at the end of the 16th century during the heyday of silver mining in Planá and its surroundings. Its underground workings are just under 200 metres long. Planá’s Šlik heritage also includes silver mining and coin minting: the mint was relocated to Planá after the mint in Jáchymov was closed.

Culture and history

The Church of St Peter and St Paul is Planá’s oldest architectural monument. It preserves 13th-century frescoes as well as a rare Romanesque portal with an arch frieze. After extensive renovation, the church now serves as a wedding and concert hall and, during the summer months, as a gallery for modern art.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was originally built as a late Romanesque church in the second quarter of the 13th century. It continued to be structurally developed until the 20th century; its present appearance was shaped substantially by two Baroque renovations in the 18th century. Together with the adjacent rectory, it has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958. Its tower houses a bell that is more than 500 years old. Galerie ve věži was founded in 1995 in the previously unused tower of the Baroque Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

A section of Planá’s town fortifications is located on Na Příkopech Street behind house no. 131.
