Nezdice na Šumavě is situated in a valley between the forested mountains of Javorník, Ždánov and Sedlo.
Culture and History
The chapel of Nezdice na Šumavě stands in the village square. It dates from 1898 and was originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary and later to Saint Anthony; its bell dates from 1728.
Opposite the municipal office stands a residential building constructed in the style of a granary, which is designated as a cultural monument. The Muzeum řemeslné výroby Nezdice na Šumavě is a historical museum dedicated to traditional crafts and life in the Bohemian Forest. The museum includes a functioning, reconstructed baking oven.
Visiting and Opening Hours
The Information Centre and Museum of Craft Production is open every year during the summer holidays from 1 July to 31 August, Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 12:30 to 17:00; it is closed on Mondays.
The Strašín Cave in the neighbouring municipality can be visited by prior arrangement with the municipal office in Strašín or the Information Centre in Nezdice.
Walking and Winter Sports
The Hipostezka runs through the cadastral area of Nezdice na Šumavě. On the Czech side, Nezdice na Šumavě is listed as one of the places associated with the Lamberská stezka Jana Filipa Lamberga.
The Ski areál Nezdice ski resort is located approximately 500 metres from the village centre and has three slopes ranging from easy to moderate difficulty.
