Pohorsko: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pohorsko is a place with a remarkable connection to nature: the Pohorsko protected area safeguards the endangered Czech subspecies of the early-flowering gentian (Gentianella praecox subsp. bohemica).

Nature

Pohorsko lies on the northern slope of the Královský kámen (1,058 m above sea level) and Ždánov (1,065 m above sea level) mountains. The Pohorsko protected area was first designated on February 14, 2012. The Pohorsko protected area covers meadows approximately 200 to 500 m south of Pohorsko, below the road leading from the village to a forestry lodge.

Pohorsko offers a beautiful view to the north; on the opposite side rises the ridge of the Javornická hornatina.

History and Culture

The first pilgrimage in Pohorsko took place on July 4. The Chapel of St. Prokop in Pohorsko was consecrated in July 2001. Pohorsko was first mentioned in writing in 1413.

A monument to the victims of the First World War stands at a junction of minor roads. The inscription “V ráji šumavském” can still be read today on the former U Blahoutů inn.

Geographical Location

Public transportation does not run to Pohorsko. The roads from Strašín and Nezdice end in Pohorsko.
