Culture and History

Kunějovice has been documented since 1269 through the mention of Miloslav of Kunějovice. The “old” Kunějovice Chateau was built in the 1690s, while the Chapel of St. Anne was consecrated on 25 July 1937. Another historical trace is the former school at Kunějovice No. 28, which is now used as the municipal office and is protected as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 106087.

Landscape and Surroundings

The Nekmířský Stream runs through the Kunějovice area. The landscape is predominantly agricultural: arable land accounts for 70 percent of the area, while forests occur along the edge of the municipality. Kunějovice-jih is designated as an important viewpoint in the landscape.

The Hracholusky Reservoir, which is mentioned as a bathing site, is located in the vicinity of Kunějovice. Nekmíř Chateau is located in the neighbouring municipality of Nekmíř. It originated as a 14th-century fortress, was later converted into a chateau, and is now designated as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic; its current condition is assessed as critical.

Cycling and Hiking Trails

The 60-kilometre “Plaské údolí” cycle route passes through Kunějovice, running between Dvůr Slatina and Lhotka. In addition, a blue-marked hiking trail leads from the southern edge of the area via road III/2046 into the municipality of Kunějovice. From there, it runs north into a forest complex, where it leaves the area.
