Dobřany: Radbuza, Baroque and Nature
Dobřany lies on the right bank of the Radbuza in a valley surrounded by green countryside with numerous wooded hills.
Nature and Trails
Lesopark Martinská stěna offers a walking trail more than 2 km long with 14 described stations. The forest park is accessible only on foot; vehicles can be parked in the adjacent car parks.
The project involved the construction of a 1.361 km cycle and footpath along Lesopark Martinská stěna. At the northwestern edge of the forest park, the path is planned to connect to the Dobřánky district. The differing information about the walking trail, cycle and footpath, and number of stations can be considered separately when planning a day. For day planning, the walking trail and the planned cycle and footpath project can be considered separately.
Water in Summer
The natural public bathing biotope Kotynka is located on Ústavní Street in Dobřany, between the Horní Kotynka and Dolní Kotynka ponds. During the summer months, Kotynka is used for recreation and relaxation, leisure activities and sports.
The water is kept biologically clean without chemical treatment. This is achieved using filter lagoons with water-purifying plants.
Culture
The Church of St. Nicholas has a freestanding tower, late Baroque frescoes and a Rococo organ. Several picturesque burgher houses, the town hall and two churches stand on T. G. Masaryk Square.
The Baroque Church of St. Vitus is considered an outstanding work by the Pilsen builder Jakub Auguston the Younger from the first half of the 18th century. The church’s rooms are used as a gallery, where the permanent exhibition “Dobřanské baroko” can be seen.
When comparing the cultural sites, you can distinguish between the square ensemble, church architecture and gallery exhibition. The Church of St. Vitus is open during the opening hours of the Dobřany Information Centre. The cultural sites thus offer different perspectives: the square ensemble, sacred furnishings, Baroque architectural history and use as a gallery stand side by side.
