Nature and landscape
Šlovický vrch is a natural monument that was first designated on 20 July 2018. The Šlovický vrch natural monument protects the yellow-bellied toad (Bombina variegata), a diverse biotope mosaic on a former military training area with a high proportion of early-successional oligotrophic habitats, as well as rare and endangered plant and animal species.
Mount Radyně is located in the vicinity of Šlovice. The nearby hills also include “Kotlík [Plzeň-Litice]”, “Kluk [Dobřany-Šlovice]” and “Malinec [Útušice-Robčice]”.
Culture
The Chapel of Reconciliation is considered the first motorway chapel of its kind in the Czech Republic and probably also in the former Eastern Bloc. The chapel at house no. 42 on the outskirts of Šlovice in the direction of Klatovy was renovated in 2018.
The “Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral” church is located in the vicinity of Šlovice. The “Svatý Martin” church lies in the wider regional surroundings of Šlovice.
Events
The Pilsen Region Half Marathon passes through Šlovice. The programme includes races over 21.097 kilometres, 10 kilometres and 5 kilometres, a team race, and children's races over 100 to 800 metres.
On 30 May 2026, the public Fourcross cycling festival “Bike festival fourcross” took place at Šlovický vrch near Dobřany.
