Zaječice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zaječice combines visible traces of a former fortress with unusual finds, a stream and marked trails. Remains of late Gothic window surrounds from the former fortress have been preserved on the western gable of building No. 64. The fortress in house No. 64 is also registered as an immovable cultural monument. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Zaječice is likewise registered as an immovable cultural monument.

Culture

The history of the place also includes finds from very different periods. A prehistoric urn from Zaječice was dated to the beginning of the Common Era; a copy is located in the town museum in Chrast near Chrudim. The same museum houses a large molar of a herbivore that was discovered in the local district of Vinice.

Landscape

In the Studená Voda–Bítovánky area, impressions of shells of marine animals can be found in a field by the forest. The Ležák stream flows through Zaječice, with two small ponds along its course in the southern part of Zaječice. The Zaječický Forest stretches through the nearby area south of Zaječice. Zaječice also lies in the foothills of the Železné hory.

Trails and Transport

A signposted local cycling route runs through Zaječice. A blue-marked hiking trail begins at the local Zaječice railway station. Zaječice railway station is integrated into a public transport system. The blue-marked hiking route runs via Žumberk and past the Ležáky memorial site to Hlinsko.
