Otradov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Otradov is located in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, on sloping terrain in the valley of the Krounka stream at an altitude of 520 m. The Krounka stream flows through Otradov.

Culture and History

The village is home to the Church of St Bartholomew, a filial church belonging to the Krouna parish. Its grounds comprise the church and a cemetery. The church was built in 1349, originally made of wood, and rebuilt after a fire. In a historical ecclesiastical record, Otradov was referred to as “Grunaw inferior”.

Otradov’s cultural monuments include Blažkův mlýn and a nearby barn. The historic mill has been a protected cultural monument since 1958 and retains almost all of its equipment, including the preserved remains of the waterwheel and millrace. Traditional half-timbered farmhouses with characteristic elements of the local folk architecture have been preserved on the slope along the stream in Otradov.

Hiking and Cycling

The red-marked hiking trail leads to Otradov and then follows the Krounka River for more than 10 km. Údolí Krounky (Šilinkův důl) is a moderately difficult hiking route. A cycling route is also marked in Otradov.

The Otradov Volunteer Fire Brigade holds fire sport competitions at the village’s multi-purpose sports grounds.

Otradov can be reached by bus or train via Krouna station, approximately 1 km away.
